Hi Everyone, Welcome To My New Blog...

Whittards Chelsea

Lets start at the very beginning

1861A tale of wit, wisdom and a man calledWalter…

With a fondness for sideburns, crinolines and cucumber sandwiches, the Victorians knew the value of a good cup of tea.

None more so than the founder Walter Whittard, born in 1861 into a family of successful leather merchants.  Destined to pursue his passion to source the finest quality tea, coffee and cocoa from across the globe.

1886 Walter sets up shop

In 1886 when gas lamps lit the city streets, Walter set up shop on Fleet Street, he was only twenty five.
1886 proved to be one of the busiest years for the British tea industry.  Within two years imports of tea grown by the British in India,  now reached 86 million lbs.  Cynics dismissed the trading boom as
'a storm in a teacup' however, the floodgates opened and the Fleet Street Store was swept up in the success.

The store was filled floor to ceiling with jars of loose leaf tea, exotic coffee caddies and wrapped paper packages of cocoa.  The real secret of Walter Whittard's success was the special blends he developed for his customers.  Walter had an fantastic knack for the art for infusion and a palate to match, he even knew how to tailor make each taste to his customer's needs.

My Favourite Store

If I had to choose my absolutely most favourite store it would have to be 'Whittards in Covent Garden,
17 The Marketplace, The Piazza, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 8RB

I just adore this store, I'm guessing it's just because of the feeling I get as soon as I enter the store.  If you enter via the main square entrance, you could easily be fooled into thinking it's really tiny, hardly any room to swing a cat as the saying goes!!!...however, as soon as you see the old wooden, winding staircase leading to the lower floor you are automatically intrigued, wondering where it leads to. Without hesitation I was making my way down them with anticipation, and I wasn't disappointed.

Having got to the bottom of the stairs, it was like an Aladdin's Cave, full of all sort's of treasures, nooks and crannies and the most amazing smells.  Gadgets and everything shiny was glistening under the lights, every shelf drawing me in, then, I noticed in the centre of the store,  the tea tasting bar, so so many teas...aromatic, citrus, floral, fruity, malty minty, nutty, refreshing, rich, smokey, sweet just to name a few.  Coffee, wow the aroma of the iced coffee, flavoured coffee, whole beans, freshly ground, the limited edition coffee's and coffee equipment I have never seen.

Did I mention the chocolate!!!! what a way to die and go to heaven....hot chocolate, flaked chocolate, chocolate spoons and the most decedent chocolate gifts and treats.

I absolutely was 'that kid in a sweet shop'  not knowing which way to turn and what to taste first, needless to say I had my full of everything, who thought you could have such a good time in a tea store, but wait there's more.

Then suddenly I noticed, to my left the cafe selling all their wares of cakes, biscuits, pastries, tea's and coffee's, but wait a minute, there's Afternoon Champagne Tea, now that's exactly what the Doctor ordered, and I have to say it more than hit the spot.

If I have inspired you to taste and or visit Whittards, you will have a fabulous time and I cannot recommend the Covent Garden Store more highly, the atmosphere, customer service, the temptation to your senses, nooks and crannies to explore, tea, coffee and chocolate tasting, what an absolute treat, whilst enjoying the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden life going on all around you.

Why I'm Trying Derma Rolling

21st August 2017 Disclaimer - The following are my own personal findings, I am not a qualified beauty therapist WHY I'M TRYING DERMA ROLLING AND HOLDING BACK ON BOTOX Hello my lovelies, Today I thought I would chat about Derma Rolling, this is rapidly becoming a passion of mine.  So let's get chatting about it, and my own experience using it at home. Back in April this year i decided to bite the bullet and purchase my first ever derma roller from Amazon, why, because i began seeing more and more women talking about it, so I decided to research it, and why it is apparently the "new botox". A little confused as to whether i should start with a 0.2mm derma roller or 0.5mm, i opted for the the 0.5mm being as i'm a tough cookie, and most of the reviews i read suggested starting with a 0.5 if you wanted to see more of an immediate result.  The first time I used it I really wasn't sure how hard or soft to roll, but you very quickly find out by your pa
11th September 2019 THEM BONES,THEM BONES, there's a song in there somewhere   Good Morning My Lovelies, Well it's been some time since i sat down to write a blog, in fact way too long, Lesleyanne consider yourself told off. So why has it been so long i hear you asking, well, besides life and sometimes obstacles that get in the way leaving no time to actually sit down with my laptop and be creative. Someone has been a silly girl, yes that's right a silly girl, you've guessed it right, of course I'm talking about me. It was a lovely summers evening, so i say to my husband Chris "lets take the dogs for a walk" all three dogs Oscar 15 year old Jack Russell, Teddy 19 month old Pomeranian and Elsie 18 month old Chihuahua all running around with excitement as we get their harnesses out, running in and out of our legs, leads getting twisted and tangled, finally we are ready to go, checked pockets for poop bags, yep got those, so off w

Father Christmas or Santa

24/11/17 Good Morning My Lovelies,                                              Today I want to chat about :-                                                                WHAT DO YOU SAY?              'FATHER CHRISTMAS' OR 'SANTA'  the jingle of sleigh bells, he's on his way As a child I grew up believing in 'Father Christmas' then went onto raising my own children to believe in 'Father Christmas' with many many magical memories of this special time, the absolute magic of the preparation of the 'Father Christmas plate, which consisted of a couple of mince pies and glass of milk, sometimes a tipple of sherry and a big fat juicy carrot for 'Rudolph' with a few extra carrot's for the other reindeer's. I remember all too well the excitement in our house and six children all eager to go to bed "because he'll be here sooner", trying to keep them awake and amused.  Then when it was time
